An exciting new vision for the Fatima Family Center was conceived by Catholic Charities and the people of Hough, the heart of one of Cleveland's Empowerment Zones. The ground breaking ceremony held on April 20, 1998 signaled its progress toward realization.

Today, as it is blessed and dedicated, the state-of-the-art facility provides a new home under one roof for tile wide array of essential community services and exceptional family-centered, inter-generational programming already in place at Fatima since its founding in 1973. The Fatima Family Center embodies Catholic Charities' mission of supporting Families in a complex world. Serving the entire community, From infants to older adults, Fatima provides: a Head Start program; after school activities; tutoring; athletics; a summer camp and lunch program; emergency and transitional services; health counseling; legal services; GED preparation; pre-employment initiatives; and health, education, and recreational activities For the older adult population. Designed with growth in mind, the new building and grounds strengthen and expand the Center's capacity for additional creative programs that foster a pro-active approach to the needs of Hough's Families.

Built as an integral part of existing community structures, including St Agnes+Our Lady of' Fatima Church, the new complex creates a village-like atmosphere and complements other neighborhood development efforts.

Fatima Family Center is a glorious example of Bishop Anthony M. Pilla's Church in the City faith-based initiative. It embodies the Church's commitment to the redevelopment of' our region's urban areas seriously challenged by the impact of' the ever-changing global economy.

The dynamic 24,750 sq. fi. Center is privately funded through the generous supporters of' Catholic Charities and the Diocese of Cleveland Friends, families, individuals, corporations and Foundations.
