NARODZENIE SW. JANA CHRZCICIELA.

 

Ewangelia Podaje o nim wyczerpujące informacje. Był synem kapłana Zachariasza i Elżbiety.Jego narodzenie zapowiedział ojcu anioł Gabriel, ukazując się podczas składania ofiary kadzielnej.Jan został uświęcony w łonie matki, gdy nawiedziła ją Maryja.Urodził się w Judei na pół roku przed narodzeniem Chrystusa, w miasteczku Ain-Karim.Wcześnie udał się na Pustynię Judzką, gdzie prowadził życie pokutne. Nad Jordanem przygotowywał ludzi na przyjście Jezusa. Ukazał Go nazywając „Barankiem Bożym”.Z uczniów św. Jana rekrutowali się pierwsi apostołowie.Do najgłośniejszych sanktuariów św. Jana Chrzcieciela należy bazylika w Damaszku, wybudowana przez cesarza Teodozego I (379-395).Znajduje się w niej grobowiec kryjący głowę świętego. Obecnie bazylika ta jest meczetem muzułmańskim, którego odwiedził Papież Jan Paweł II podaczas wizyty do Syrii. Chrześcijanie odwiedzają miejscowość Ain-Karim, gdzie w kościele można oglądać grotę narodzin św. Jana.

 

Bóg powołuje ludzi i prowadzi ich swoimi drogami. To powołanie Boże w szczególny sposób przejawiło si w narodzeniu i życiu św. Jana Chrzciciela.My też jesteśmy wezwani, by być świadkami Chrystusa i przygotować dla Niego drogę do ludzkich serc.Sławiąc Boga za wybranie Jana Chrzcieciela, dziękujmy Mu, że i nas wybrał, byśmy stali się uczestnikami zbawienia i świadkami Jego Syna.

 

Nasz parafialny festywal przypada w tym roku w dniu 31 sierpnia 1 i 2 września.Otrzymaliście już specjalną kopertkę z napisem Festiwal, dlatego prosze używać tą kopertkę przy zwrocie biletów.Jeżeli kto by mógł sprzedać więcej biletów to prosze zgłosić się do mnie lub do kancelarii parafialnej.Jeżeli kto nie wykupi wszystkich biletów to czyste prosze zwrócić spowrotem do kancelarii parafialnej.Jest również kwestionarjusz , który mówi kto będzie mógł przynieść ciasto jak również potrzebujemy chętnych do pracy przy festywalu.Dlatego prosze wypełnić i zwrócić do kancelarii parafialnej.

A sincere thank you to all who helped with the Booster Club’s Polka Dance on Saturday, June 16^th.  A lot of hard work, time, dedication and teamwork is needed to put together an event this size.   We hope everyone enjoyed Eddie Blazonczyk and the Versatones as they entertained us all night.

 

IN REMEMBERANCE

Thursday, June 28^th marks the 19^th Anniversary of the death of Rev. Francis Szudarek.  Rev. Szudarek was an associate here for 12 years (1936-1948) before becoming the Pastor at our Parish on January 12, 1956.  In 1962, while Rev. Szudarek was Pastor here, the new addition to the High School was built.

 

AKRON ARROWS GAME

The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a night out to see an Akron Arrows Baseball Game on Saturday, August 25^th at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $6.00 each. For more information please call Rich at 216-781-0363 before July 15^th.

 

 

POLISH HERITAGE FESTIVAL

The remaining unclaimed Main Raffle Tickets for the festival have been mailed. We have already started to receive some of the sold tickets in the mail or in the collection baskets.  Please take a moment and fill out the questionnaire included in the envelope asking for volunteers to work any time during the Festival and/or to help with bakery.  If you do not sell the Raffle Tickets, please return them back to the Rectory.  Thank you and Good Luck!!

 

 

ST. AUGUSTINE TOWERS

St. Augustine Towers will be celebrating its Fiftieth Anniversary, Sunday June 24^th.  St. Augustine Towers is a gracious affordable assisted living facility on the West Side of Cleveland.  St. Augustine Towers is a part of the St. Augustine Health Campus, and a Catholic Charities facility.

 

SPECIAL BLESSINGS

A gracious thank you and special blessings to Frank Plewa who dedicates his spare time in keeping the flowers and plants beautiful by the back parking lot of the church area.  Frank takes it upon himself to purchase all the flowers that he plants for us, and comes several times a week to take care of them.  Thank you Frank and God bless you.

 

REV. HENRY A. JEZESKI

On Sunday, June 17th, Fr. Henry Jezeski entered eternal life with Jesus.  Fr. Henry has been assigned to many area churches as an assistant pastor and pastor.

Fr. Henry has served at Corpus Christi, St. Casimir, St. Timothy, Sts. Peter & Paul, Transfiguration and St. Mary of Czestochowa. 

He retired from St. Mary of Czestochowa when the parish closed on April 28th, 1996.  Fr. Henry just celebrated his 50th Anniversary of Priesthood on April 26^th.  If you had the honor of meeting Fr. Henry, you would know that he was a laid back, soft spoken, gentle man who was very proud of his Polish heritage and did much to promote it as chaplain and moderator of various Polish societies.

 

SPIRITUAL MESSAGE

John the Baptist's life was fueled by one burning passion -- to point others to Jesus Christ and to the coming of his kingdom. Scripture tells us that John was filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother's womb by Christ himself.  The fire of the Spirit dwelt in John and made him the forerunner of the coming Messiah.  John was led by the Spirit into the wilderness prior to his ministry where he was tested and grew in the word of God.  John's clothing was reminiscent of the prophet.  John broke the prophetic silence of the previous centuries when he began to speak the word of God to the people of Israel.  His message was similar to the message of the Old Testament prophets who chided the people of God for their unfaithfulness and who tried to awaken true repentance in them.  Among a people unconcerned with the things of God, it was his work to awaken their interest, unsettle them from their complacency, and arouse in them enough good will to recognize and receive Christ when he came.

 

"Lord Jesus, you bring hope and salvation to a world lost in sin and suffering. Let your grace refresh and restore your people today in the hope and joy of your great victory over sin and death."
