Mission StatementInspired by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, we are committed to the educational mission of the Catholic Church, enabling our children to live and be educated on a daily basis in a spiritually nurturing and disciplined environment. As we strive toward excellence, students will develop spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically, and our community of families will grow in holiness and faithfulness according to God's Word. St. Elizabeth Ann SetonThe school has been named
after Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton who is the patron saint of Catholic education.
She was born on August 28, 1774, in New York, and during her life
began a Catholic school for girls in Baltimore, Maryland. On March
17, 1963, she was beatified and given the title "Blessed." On September
14, 1975, Pope Paul VI proclaimed her a saint--the first canonized American.
In 1995 it was determined
that there was a great need and tremendous support for the establishment
of a private, independent grade school in Hudson, Ohio. The
numbers showed that an elementary school would be filled. A dream
became reality and culminated with the dedication and opening of Seton
Catholic School on August 25, 1997. Seton Catholic School operates
as a state chartered, nonprofit educational institution. While operating
with approval of the Diocese of Cleveland, the school is independent of
any parish. Governance is provided through a duly elected Board of
Directors. The Board is comprised of members who have a commitment
to the mission of the institution. Board members serve three year
rotating terms. The board employs a Principal to whom they delegate
the responsibility for the school's daily operation. The Principal
serves as an ex-officio member of the Board. The Board retains ultimate
responsibility for the management of the school.
All faculty are properly
certified by the State of Ohio. The instructional time allocation
and the curriculum for each subject area meets the standards established
by the Ohio Department of Education.
