The
primary purpose of Saint Jerome School is to assist our parents in providing a
Catholic education where their children learn to live the Gospel and to follow
Jesus.
Admissions
While priority is given to current students and children of Parishioners, St. Jerome Catholic School welcomes prospective students of all races, creeds, and national origins. We do accept Cleveland Scholarship and Tutoring Program vouchers and EdChoice Scholarships.
Applications for admission may be
picked up at the school office during regular school hours. Completed
applications should be returned to the school office or Rectory along with the
student’s most recent report card.
St. Jerome Catholic School follows the curriculum established by the Diocese of Cleveland in compliance with curriculum standards set by the State of Ohio. The course of study includes Mathematics, Reading, Phonics, Spelling, English, Science, Music, Physical Education, Computer Technology, Art, and Religion.
Students in grades
7 and 8 use block scheduling, changing classrooms and teachers for various
subjects in preparation for High School and to allow for greater teacher
specialization in given subject areas.
The Catholic Religion is taught daily. Our students attend Mass at least once each week. At least once a month the entire student body attends a School Mass. Children are invited to participate in these liturgies by reading, leading the Prayers of the Faithful, and by bringing up the gifts.
The Sacrament of Penance is made available to students during school hours twice a year in the seasons of Advent and Lent. Occasionally other liturgies such as Advent Services, Stations of the Cross, the Rosary, and May Crowning take place during the school year and are attended by our students.
Prayer is an important, integral part of the school day. Our children begin and end the day by praying together, as well as praying before lunch. Students are also encouraged to bring special needs to our attention so that we may pray for them.
Students in grades 5 through 8 are
also invited to join the Junior Holy Name Society and Catholic students may
become Mass servers.
A wide variety of extra-curricular activities is offered to appeal to the interests, talents, and needs of the widest possible range of students providing wholesome, supervised after-school activities. These activities help to foster teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, and a sense of responsibility.
Current offerings include:
CYO Sports
Junior Holy Name Society
Junior National Honor Society
Parents and families play an important role in the life of the school and have many opportunities to become involved. We encourage all parents to attend St. Jerome Parent Teacher Unit (PTU) meetings held the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. from September to May.
PTU Meetings (Parent Teacher Unit)
