A PRAYER DURING ACHIEVEMENT TESTS

Loving God, there is a lot of pressure when it comes to taking achievement tests.  Help us to deal with the pressure by putting these tests into perspective.  Help us to do our best, but help us to realize, too, that the most important test in life is not academic, but personal and spiritual, the test of how well we love God and other people.  Help us to have a clear mind as we take our tests.  We pray in the name of Jesus, the Lord…AMEN.

PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Next Monday begins two weeks of Standardized testing at St. Williams.  Using Iowa Test of Basic Skills and the Cognitive Abilities Test our students will demonstrate their mastery of academic skills.

How can you help your child prepare?  Here are a few suggestions:

Ø      Ensure your child receives a good night’s sleep (at least 8 hours).

Ø      Ensure your child eats a healthy breakfast

Ø      Ensure your child has several #2 pencils.

Ø      Ensure your child has a library book to read when he/she has completed each section of the test.

Ø      Ensure that your child knows that YOU think he/she will do well on the tests.

REGISTRATION

This is a “LAST CALL” for the first round of registration.  After Friday, Febraury 27, I will begin the task of setting up class lists for the 2004-2005 school year. If we do not have your paperwork and deposit, I cannot place your child’s name on a list.

On March 1st, we will open registration to new families/non-parishioners… and classes will be filled on a “First-come, First served basis.  A reminder that some class sizes are limited, so please contact the office if you foresee any difficulty with meeting the February 27th deadline.

PSAS FORMS

To continue with registration reminders, if you are interested in being considered for Financial Assistance, you must mail your completed PSAS forms (you were provided with an addressed envelope) so that it arrives by March 1st.

The response time back to the parish is approximately (2) weeks, and we will try to advise families of the results of the application process soon thereafter.

PARENT ASSOCIATION NEWS

Market Day: March 20th is the next pick-up day.

Bunny Hop:  The Parent Association is planning a Spring-time activity for our children (pre-school through 3rd grade)

called the “Bunny Hop”.  This will be held on Saturday, April 3rd from 10:00 am to 12:00 in the lower hall.  Please get your reservations in early, because we will have a limted number of tickets. In addition to the Easter Bunny and a magician, we will have several hands-on play stations including painting, crafts, building with legos and blocks, dress-up and lots of fun ways to play and pretend.  If you would like to help, and earn service hours, we need assistance with decorating, set-up, planning and/or working a station.  Please call Joanne Bambic at (216) 261-3422.

Ladies Night Out:  106 tickets remain for this fun-filled event that takes place on Tuesday, March 30th.

Assistance is still needed for this event in many different areas.  If you have wanted to become involved in the Parent Association, here is the perfect opportunity.  Please contact Mary Gawor (216) – 289-9555 or  Rose Koustis (216)-731-0973 for more information, or to volunteer to help.

INSTRUCTIONAL FEE RAFFLE

The winner of the Thursday, February 19th  raffle was Kresimer Ivkovic in room # 11… CONGRATULATIONS!!

Our next raffle will be held on Thursday, March 18th, and will be for an $80 voucher to cover the yearly lunch fee.

UNITED WAY DRIVE

Many thanks to Mrs. Sarpolis, who organized our yearly campaign.  Because of her hard work, and the generosity of our children and families, we were able to raise $500 for this worthwhile cause.

Thanks again for helping us to reinforce the idea that being of service to others must be a part of who we are as Catholics.

Thought for Parents:
